Biography:

Bill Hardy married in St. Adrian's Church in Chicago, Illinois.

During World War II Bill served in the U.S. army as a private. He completed his training in both "Electronics" and "Radio Mechanic, AAF" with the U.S. Air Force and took on the role of operating the radar in a bomber. He never saw action though; he was sent to California after graduating from these schools in January of 1945 when his deployment was delayed. Just days after his deployment was delayed, the U.S. dropped the first atomic bomb on Japan and his unit was under the belief that the U.S. didn't want to send reinforcements until after the results of the atomic bomb were discovered; of course they didn't know this until after the bomb had been dropped.
